To save his friends, family, and neighbors, Beams must ally with an old enemy of his, whose magical knowledge is the key to lifting the barrier. Yet Mirar leaves nothing to chance, sending his deadliest servants after Beams to ensure he cannot save the city. With time rapidly running out, will Beams be able to save himself, much less the whole city and everyone within it?

A sudden attack from an alien race takes out hundreds of humanity's greatest superheroes, leaving the Earth defenseless in the face of an overwhelming foe. The only survivors are Kevin Jason (Bolt) and his friends, who are forced to ally with the government in order to protect the planet from the invading enemies. Their mission becomes more urgent, however, when the aliens give humanity an ultimatum: Either surrender in forty-eight hours or be destroyed by the aliens' immense forces. With only two days left to save the superhero community and the world in general, Kevin and his friends must defeat the aliens before the world is destroyed. Saving the world, however, will force Kevin and his friends to go to places no human has seen and force them to come to terms with an enemy unlike any they've faced before, one they may not be able to defeat.

With a new power at his command, Kevin Jason (Bolt) goes to visit his grandparents, who he has never met before, in the hope that they might be able to help him better understand the source of his new power. But it soon turns out that enemies from his grandparents' past have come back to get revenge for the crimes committed against them. Not only that, but Kevin's grandparents have a mysterious agenda of their own that seems to involve Kevin in a way he cannot understand, but must if he is going to survive. Now Kevin must find out the truth of his grandparents and his family before their enemies catch them. And if Kevin fails, then this may spell the end of his family.
